By Robert Kintner, LEPCO Chief Financial Officer, Director of IT & Human Resources
Over the past 30 years, my journey as a finance professional, volunteer, and through personal experiences has helped me develop and grow as a leader. Becoming a leader doesn’t come naturally, it’s something you learn and earn over time.
I attribute the development of my leadership qualities and successes over my career to a number of mentors who I have been fortunate to work with. They have taken me under their wings and guided me over the years. Each of my mentors are incredibly successful in their respective careers and I have tremendous respect for them. They each helped me become the leader I am today.
To me, a successful leader is someone who leads by example and gives back to others, like others have done for them. I have done this by volunteering and giving back to an organization that that has provided me many opportunities, including opening the door professionally to my final career path as Chief Financial Officer and Director of HR and IT for LEPCO.
For those of you who are looking to build your professional career and grow in your personal lives, I hope that some of my insight may inspire you. Surrounding yourself with successful people, learning from mentors, and building a network of life-long relationships will help put you in the best possible position in becoming a servant leader, if that is who you strive to be.
Rob was recently the featured guest on the Servant Leader’s Library podcast, where he spoke about growing as a leader and making a meaningful impact. Listen to the full podcast as Rob encourages people in all points of their careers to lead well and make a difference where they are.
